Very Special! Antique Large Double Headed Black Glass Cameo, Jet Black Glass Base & Matt Frosted Glass exquisitely Detailed Cameo of Venus & Mars Cameo, usually lovers or fierce enemies, often both. Mars with Lion on his Helmut & - His logo, Ares (Mars), God of War, a Chariot Pulled by Stallions on his Shield. Venus is identified with her topknot.
I am very Pleased to be able to offer such a rare lovely! A truly beautiful cameo featuring love between Mars , god of War, and Aphrodite (Venus), Goddess of love from Greek (Roman) Mythology. Renaissance artist were often inspired by these mythological themes.
Cameo is set in a heavy ornate Bronze frame. measuring 2 1/2 x 1 3/4. I added this glittering 24" necklace.
