    Description

    ANTIQUE SPOON...
    NORMA TALMADGE 6" TEASPOON --
ONEIDA PLATE WITH HER FACE & NAME
ON THE FRONT OF THE SPOON.
ONEIDA HAS HALLMARKED THIS AS PLATE
CONDITION IS VERY GOOD.  THE BOWL OF
THE SPOON HAS A LIGHT DISCOLORATION,
BUT I HAVE NOT TRIED TO POLISH OR
REMOVE IT, SIMPLY WIPE IT WITH A SOFT
    CLOTH.
I'VE SEEN INFORMATION THAT DATES THIS
AS EARLY AS THE 20s, BUT I'D RATHER CLASSIFY
    IT AS BEFORE THE 1940s...
    FROM KOVEL (ABBREVIATED):
Souvenir spoons were popular collectibles from the 1890s into the 1920s.
This silver-plated spoon features a silent film star of that day.  Made by
Oneida Silversmiths for Hearst Newspapers, it was used in a 1925 advertising
campaign in Photoplay, one of the first American film fan magazines. It has a
a facsimile signature of the actress on the handle and a raised portrait on the
tip. Other spoons had stars like Marion Davies, Richard Dix, Douglas Fairbanks,
Thomas Meighan, Mae Murray, Pola Negri, Ramon Novarro, Mary Pickford,
Norma Shearer and Lois Wilson. Oneida is still one of the largest marketers of
stainless steel flatware and tabletop products. This spoon can sell for .00 to
    .00 each.
