This a brand new and limited edition color I  have not offered before: the base is light Brown and interior stripes when stretched show a classic and decisive Maroon Wine color contrast most colonial compatible! They are truly a gentle and subtle color combo, yet very noticeable and highly sophisticated, so you can be the first of your TROUPE to cut a handsome SWOOP!  Style galore and more!
The new item debut this week is a VERTICAL RIBBED Stocking in soft natural Brown/Maroon Wine. How is this different, you ask, than Lady Ellens' stocking item referred to as vertical stripe?  Well, in this model of construction, the ribs are raised and tactile, and when pulled onto leg and foot, the stretch yielded becomes an inner color peeking through that was hiding when stocking was at rest. They are more plushy than our regular smooth weave stocking, and resemble elephant wrinkled twisted trunks unworn. Every time they are laundered, they return to this wrinkly state waiting for you to make leg magic again. The magic unfolds when they are stretched, you see above I inserted my arm to show you the result. There is just sufficient elastic in there to avoid bulky gaters/garters for formal dress. All of our stockings have a fitted toe foot like modern styles and a stay put top cuff.
The Stockings are very soft and durable and the stripes will be a touch more dramatic as you pull them on. Perfect for Working Colonials, Dress marches and English Country Dance! I show you how I fold them for sale and shipping with natural yarn tie and the loft they have. I purposefully showed you what they look like at rest at all angles, and the color that appears when pulled onto your leg.  One things for sure.....these are NEW for YOU and exceedingly handsome.

My husband grinds these into his dancing shoes and marching boots walking all over God's creation and we haven't killed a pair yet....they are truly sturdy don't let the fancy ribs scare you off!!! My sister loves the pink ones.  I also carry straight grey tone. They are classy on either ladies' or men's legs.
Please study the subtle difference between listings, of Grey/Maroon and Brown/Maroon variations; they are moreso evident in person than on computer screen, to decide which one you like better...or maybe BOTH! you can'r decide so buy both color combos. Our Stockings are 42" long measured from top to toe and will clearly go up over your knee as needed when wearing breeches  for men and petticoats for women. You can view laid out they are very long indeed, unstretched. The finely ribbed cuff has a touch of elastic to keep Stockings up on your leg without use of gaiters/garters, and a have a fitted and reinforced toe/heel area to prevent uncomfortable bunching in marching boots or dancing shoes.  As you may know, "socks" is a modern word, and knitted stockings is the period correct definition of 18th c leg wear.
These are pure soft cotton to the touch, in a solid two tonal color, for an all-purpose work or dressy effect that matches most colonial outfit colors of earthy tones. They enhance almost any outfit with their subtle, period correct form and appearance. In colonial times when men's leg wear was of importance, these portray the correct representation. They are proudly made in America on antique restored machinery and period perfect for the 2021 Decade all- season ahead.
